hello,

I have been seriously considering going on a student exchange for 1year, from Brisbane Australia to New York America. I have given myself another few months before I make the final decision, and I have a few questions….

I understand that it costs around $10,000 for airfairs, visa’s etc etc and the host family pays for accommodation and food… but I have a question to do with the extra money (just for the things we need etc, you know what I mean…).

My mother is going to pay for everything on the exchange, but how do/will I get the extra money that I may need? for example will I get an account and I will be able to take money out of the account (therefore it will be cash) or how else would it work?

I am not a scammer, and I am not trying to rip off my mother, it’s just that some things are private (I am 17years old), and I may not like her knowing what little things I may get…. for example, if I had to use a credit card for everything, she would get a reciept on her account back in Aus. right?

P.S. I hope I made sense Also, I am going to do year 12 at a private school in New York City…. hopefully… so it is not possible for me to get a job, so that is why my mother needs to pay for it

The problem is

In how many different ways can change be made for a dollar bill using coins from a collection that contains four nickels,four dimes, four quarters, and two half dollars?

My plan was to add all those up and divide by 100 and i got 2.6 so would the answer by 26 ways?

If i’m wrong can you explain step by step on how to solve this problem?
