Where to exchange Canadian to US money?

I’ve been searching around for a place to exchange the Canadian money a friend gave me, normally I’d keep it, but I am struggling with my finances at the moment and decided I need to exchange it so I can try and have enough money for needs. I’ve tried some random banks, and there was only one that said they could exchange it if I didn’t have an account there but it would cost 10 dollars, then the exchange rates. Which makes it practically not worth doing. Should I just make an account there so I can dodge some of the fees and then cancel it, or is there another place I can use to exchange the money? Does a Travelex Foreign Currency Exchange booth take a lot of your money? I’ve been to all of the banks in my area yet I haven’t been able to find anyone except TD, I’m going to be taking a flight in several days and was wondering if perhaps it’d be best to exchange it at the Travelex booth, does anyone know if they charge fees? I know they have a crummy exchange rate usually, but if they don’t charge as much fees it might be the better choice, so someone’s input would be great.

For you through their bank which shouldnt charge customer fee.
