Going to Italy, should I exchange any money before I leave the USA? Is the rate the same if I exchange money in the airport in Rome?

Never exchange money at an airport…you will get a terrible exchange rate. Best to go to a bank or use your ATM card. some ATM cards do not work in foreign countries, but many do…and you get the best rate thru the bank or ATM. Call the customer service number on your card and ask if your card can be used in Italy. Avoid carrying too much cash. Do not keep more than a tiny bit in your wallet. Keep other cash in a pouch on a cord around your neck that goes down below your waist inside your clothes. Never keep all your cash in one place. See luggage stores or AAA for similar items. nNver keep all your I.D. in your wallet either. And be sure to keep a copy of your passport in a separate place from the passport. More than you asked for , I know…but I have learned from friends who learned the hard way!
