Is the iPod exchange program worth the money?

I recently found out (after visiting the apple store) that my iPod hardware has crashed and nothing can be done about it anymore.
There is some iPod exchange program that has been offered to me since it is out of the warranty period. I need to pay about 70$ and they’ll give me some old/used iPod(with 3 month warranty)….is it worth it?
I really need it with out a doubt but is it worth the money…is it as efficient?
